Coffee break cafe milton ma12/27/2023 ![]() The atmosphere of the place is a weird, strange, wonderful blend of 1950s diner, modern coffee shop, and, for one of the rooms, free speech wall. By any metric, Java Break is a much better coffee shop. I've never had to wait very long for an order and they're all polite and well spoken.ĭon't even bother with the Starbucks up the street. The staff seem like interesting people and are willing to chitchat for the most part. The wifi is good for basic browsing and even streaming video. Electrical outlets are available and conveniently placed. There are multiple sitting options that are good for groups from 2-8, 10 or more is taking the place over. I'm not sure if they still do that sort of thing, but they were fun the handful of times I stumbled into them. ![]() I've seen spoken word poetry events here in the past, but that was about a decade ago. ![]() The sitting area is an open space, so it's not like there's any privacy, but the people mostly keep to themselves. This is a relaxed environment in case you're looking to get a little work done. They include one refill with a house cup which is always nice. My personal favorite is the corn beef hash and eggs sunny side up with wheat bread, and black coffee. Overall, would recommend for the pastries but the vibe/atmosphere and coffee were just mediocre in my opinion…Īimee's CoffeeHouse is an affordable breakfast and lunch spot that always has a traditional American food made to order. A lot of people don’t eat pork for various reasons, so that could’ve been a disaster. Not sure what got lost in translation but though this worked out in my favor. I thought they tasted really good, very flaky. They all had some kind of bacon and cheese combination. When we got home the box had 3 danishes, none of which were sweet. I thought the third option was a fruit danish but maybe I miss heard the gentleman working the counter. Second option was the raspberry and they ran out as well. Pastry wise I wanted to try the lemon cream, they ran out. Ordered some hot cappuccinos and an iced vanilla caramel latte, both were strong and tasty. I live in California now and half the places have the same vibe as this place, which could be a plus or a minus depending on who you ask. Makes things a bit confusing for the customer. I can only assume a coffee shop can make quite a few different combinations, so I really hate when there’s only 5-10 options on the menu. Let me start by saying I am biased against coffee shops with a weird and small menu. The hotel staff, when asked, recommend one or other of the downtown places, and say that it is just a few blocks… I walk those few blocks every morning… It is much more like 10 or 12 blocks! In sum, then, it really is hard to figure out the role of this restaurant, except if you realize that the hotel management does not care a wit about anything other than The patrons who come for KU game weekends. This is not understandable, as you have people waking up at the hotel, and then realizing that they have a 10 to 15 black walk to the nearest place for breakfast. Crazily, the Bird Dog does not open until 11 AM, and now appears not to open all days of the week. so, the Bird Dog would have to be the source of breakfast, and potentially lunch for most of the patrons of the hotel. As such, there are literally no options for food nearby, particularly as the KU cafeteria in the Kansas Union no longer serves what could be described as food. It is the restaurant associated with a fairly fancy hotel that is located at the edge of University campus, but far from downtown. Creating an all encompassing pleasant atmosphere.įor more honest, detailed reviews, follow me. This didn't take away from our experience as they were respectful and picked up after themselves. As a matter of fact there were at least 6 homeless people hanging about/dining during our stay. I didn't care for the sweet ketchup but the meal couldn't have been better. I paired it with french fries that were crisp. My burger patties were cooked perfectly, the gluten free bun soft and tasty, the onions caramelized to perfection, a ripe, but not soft, tomato, and the homemade pickles delicious. It was a perfect meal with the exception of pancake syrup. ![]() The French toast was done perfectly and the fruit was fresh, juicy, and abundant. The food came out pretty fast and was well plated. My dining partner ordered french toast and I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The tables outside are pretty close together, sort of felt like sharing a table with a stranger, but, I didn't mind. Can't really comment on the interior as I honestly didn't look at it. It was a beautiful morning so we chose to sit outside.
